About Me

Launched in 2016 as a knowledge sharing hub for like-minded health and fitness fanatics, the Pete Yardley Health & Fitness Blog is a vehicle for me to communicate my musings and anecdotes on all things health related. Using years of experience as a health professional in the fitness industry, I want to help as many people as I can to become the strongest, fittest and most robust version of themselves.

Personal and group training is my job, but the theory behind leading a healthy lifestyle is what I'd still research and practice regardless of my career path. I love to learn how the human body works and am fascinated by the endless techniques available to us all in the realm of health optimisation.

My name is Pete and I base my work from my home town of Wolverhampton. My clientele makes up a broad cross-section of the local community, from casual gym goers to international athletes.

I guess my interest and ultimately passion for health and fitness started, like many young boys in the UK, on the football pitch. As a youngster I played to a pretty high standard but could never find in myself the competitive edge required to move on from academy to professional football. I knocked it on the head and played casually for a few years until focusing more on the academic side of sport and exercise during my Sports Technology BSc at Staffordshire University.

After a successful period of study at university I worked in an unrelated research setting for a while before making one of the best decisions I've ever made – enrolling on a personal training course. Since then I've worked as a self employed personal trainer from a local gym. This move brought be to meet my partner Nita, who has held membership at my gym since I started there. Her enthusiasm for sport, good food and exercise echoes my own and makes us a strong team :) We enjoy many physical pursuits together such as bouldering, football, trampolining and running. It's usually her who also organises the obstacle races and fun runs we get involved in.

Please feel free to have a look around the site. Your thoughts and input are welcomed in the comments sections of each blog post. If you have any questions or ideas for interesting posts then I'd love to hear from you.
